Art & Wine Lovers Invited to Flow with ‘Currents’

Willcox art event combines art, wine tastings, and music

 

Willcox, Ariz. (June 4, 2013) – Art and wine lovers can go with the flow during “Currents,” a drifting, wafting, flowing summer art show. The opening event is a progressive affair, much like a progressive dinner. All summer long TRUST Art & Design will highlight new art works, introduce guest artists and hold special events in Willcox locations.

 

The first Currents event will be June 22 at three Willcox area winery tasting rooms: Zarpara Vineyard, Flying Leap Vineyards Willcox tasting room and Keeling Schaefer Vineyards Willcox. TRUST is a collection of original fine art displayed in the area’s wine tasting venues.

 

During Currents, visitors can meet artists whose works are featured, sample wines from local vineyards, and talk with Kim and Thomas Johnson, the husband and wife owners of TRUST Art & Design. Visitors can attend one, two, or all three locations of the flowing art day. Each venue will have unique art works and wines from Cochise County vintners. Local favorite, Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl, will entertain with live music from 3-7 pm.

 

The Flow of Currents

Saturday, June 22 at three Willcox locations:

 

11 am – 1 pm   Zarpara Vineyard, 6777 S. Zarpara Ln (15 minutes from downtown Willcox)

Thomas Ale Johnson will speak briefly about art and design, including his (as Xymyl) “Terroir” series of grape leaf monoprints and the identities he created for Zarpara Vineyard and Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. Special guests Rob and Sarah Hammelman of Sand-Reckoner Vineyards will pour their new releases.

 

1 – 3 pm   Flying Leap Vineyards’ downtown Willcox tasting room, 100 N. Railroad Ave.

Featured: Meet Archie Sutton and see his newest mixed-media copper works. Also, see new paintings by Bisbee artist Paul Bovée.

 

3 – 7 pm   Keeling Schaefer Vineyards’ tasting room, 154 N. Railroad Ave., Willcox

Featured: Large works by artists Xo Terra, Christine Elving & Steve Bovée

Special guest Rose Suntken will be on hand for her first TRUST spotlight show. Meet the artist and view her colorful and dynamic work.

 

Cost:

Wine tastings: $6-$7 at each tasting room;

Art works available for purchase; prices vary
